This picture was taken at the LCF end-of-year picnic. Due to impending rain, this year it was held in Scott Commons instead of Professor Armacost's beautiful garden. Here is a picture of me and Barb.

More Pictures of Our House

Jason and I popped down to Raleigh earlier this month to check on our new house. We have previously only visited in winter-time months and were shocked to see the explosion of color when we pulled into our neighborhood. Flowers, dogwoods, and green green grass. I exclaimed when we pulled up to our house, "look, we have a pink bush!" (I was later informed that it is, in fact, an azalea). Here's a picture of the front with the sun shining down on the lake behind our house.

Here's another picture of the front of our house. I left some piles of pine needles scattered around the lawn last time I was in Raleigh (it was raining and I wasn't able to move them before I headed home). As you can see from the picture, the grass that was underneath those piles is a few weeks behind the rest of the yard. We have about five bright green patches in the front--I've taken to calling them "crop circles!"

This is Jason saying goodbye to the fake tile that's in our kitchen/sunroom area. Squares like this literally kept popping up, so we're getting hardwood floors put in. They should be ready by the time we move in. Also, see how lush it is in the backyard now. Spring has sprung!

Cumberland River before Holly & Craig's Wedding

18" Rainbow

I had a couple hours to kill before going to the wedding, so I bought my KY trout license and headed down to fish for an hour and a half. I knew there were some nice trout in the Cumberland River but I wasn't sure how I would do on my first shot at it. I located a perfect seam in the current and fished it pretty thoroughly with a white streamer. 5 rainbows in an hour and a half, 13" chunky one, gorgeous 18", two 12 inchers and another nice-looking 17" to cap it all off. My dad came along too and enjoyed sitting and watching me catch some fish. I'm not sure he thought he would be taking so many pictures though...it's taken some convincing that I can actually catch trout now, after the Yellowstone trip years back before I knew what I was doing. All told, not bad for an hour and a half, and I still cleaned up in time to make it to the wedding.

This is me fishing the seam in the current. All the books on reading streams and practice on native brook trout streams have really paid off.

Holly and Craig's Wedding in Burkesville, KY

Holly picked pretty pink and green colors for the reception. What a beautiful cake and tulips (Cary's favorite flowers)!

Holly asked Jason and Cary to cut and serve the cake. This is a picture before we butchered it (I mean, served it). I think it turned out okay--it definitely tasted delicious.

I don't think there are words to describe this but it definitely deserves to be memorialized and preserved on behalf of young doctors and lawyers everywhere. See, the farmer and the cowboy CAN be friends!

As you can tell, this is an intense game of Texas Hold-em with us all showing off our poker prowess.

Jason's first 10 lb. catch from our lake

Evidently a San Juan worm is good for catching all sorts of creatures besides fish. How many turtles do you think have been caught on a fly rod before? It seemed to be of the snapping variety (so we decided not to get too close). Eventually it broke the line and swam away.

My first LAX game ever

Over spring break I headed down to North Carolina and was able to see a friend of mine play lacrosse. It was Alex's first lacrosse game (she's #5)! I also really enjoyed hanging out with her family: Karen, Liz and Coleton as such fun people. Unfortunately, PHS lost but I think I captured some great pictures of Alex and her team. Now if I only understood the rules......

I don't know who convinced whom but Alex and her friend Muriel are both first-time lacrosse players and great friends. I actually captured them running side by side here (Muriel is the one with red hair).
